Health and Safety courses

As part of your EarnLearn apprenticeship, you’ll book certain specialist courses with approved external training providers.

A collection of colourful hard hats hanging on a wall.

As part of your EarnLearn apprenticeship, you’ll need to book specialist courses through approved external training providers. These course costs are covered by EarnLearn after signing up to your apprenticeship. However, if you need to re-sit, refresh, or rebook due to non-completion, failure, or non-attendance, you’ll be required to pay the cost yourself.

What you need to do

Book your Health & Safety training the right way so credits land on your NZQA record and your workplace stays compliant.

Your EarnLearn email lists the Health & Safety courses you must complete (e.g., inductions, hazard management, first aid, unit standards) and when to book.

Choose a provider from the list below and read their booking instructions (dates, venues, prerequisites, PPE).

Use the provider’s online link. If there isn’t one, call to secure your spot and confirm any ID or equipment to bring.

When booking by phone, state clearly that you are an EarnLearn apprentice. This ensures the provider bills EarnLearn (within the funding window).

Type your National Student Number (NSN) exactly right so your credits are loaded to NZQA.

If you don’t attend a booked course, or need a re-sit due to non-completion/failure, the next booking is self-funded. The same applies to required refreshers.

Please book within the first three months of your apprenticeship. We recommend completing First Aid before Height Safety and Confined Space training.

Choose an approved provider on this page and follow their instructions. When booking, enter your NSN correctly so credits load to your NZQA record, and let them know you are an EarnLearn apprentice.
